I figured I would try something different this week, normally I only upload this podcast as an audio podcast but I figured I would try to screen-cast as I recorded the audio and upload that screen-cast to YouTube and Blip.tv. I am hoping to get feedback and maybe a few more subscribers to not only my YouTube channel but also to my podcast in iTunes.
Part 2 is here: http://totalipad.com/episode37b/
This is only part 1. I am in the process of uploading the rest of this podcast where we discuss Google Currents. I will update this post with a link to part 2 as soon as I get the video edited and processed.
If you only want the audio portion of this podcast, you can download that HERE

3illiards for iPad
3illiards is a universal iOS application. Works for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. There is a free version and a paid version.

If you enjoy shooting pool then you will really enjoy this application. The physics of the gameplay are amazing, it feels like you are really playing pool.

You have 3 different game types:
8-ball
9-ball
Snooker (honestly I have no idea what this is as I am not a die hard pool player).
You also have 3 different modes of play:
Solo
Pass N Play (2 players share the iPad)
vs. CPU
Additional features:
Change your game environment
Change the table cloth color
My only cons for 3illiards are no Game Center for achievements and no online play. If this game had online play to compete against others it would be a 5 star application, without online play it is still a 4 star game.

What's on my iPad?
I am frequently asked what are some of my favorite applications or applications that I would recommend. It is hard to recommend applications because everyone has a different need or they use their iPad a different way from the way I use my iPad. So instead of writing a post saying these are must have applications I figured I would upload a video of the applications that I use on a day to day basis. I have no problem recommending any of the applications seen in this video. If you are looking for a Twitter client then I recommend Tweetbot for the iPad, if you are looking for an RSS reader then I recommend Mr. Reader on the iPad.

YouTube replacement applications
With Google not renewing their YouTube license with Apple, the YouTube application for iOS will be disappearing with iOS 6 as you have probably already heard. Google did release an official YouTube application but that was only for the iPhone. No iPad version has been released yet. I think Google will take their sweet time, probably hoping the iPad faithful will get frustrated and buy a Nexus 7. I am only half kidding about that last statement.
The iPhone version of YouTube will work on your iPad in 2x mode, but who wants to view iPhone applications on their iPad? I know I don’t! The official YouTube application also includes advertisements during the pre-roll of the videos. In the Apple version of YouTube those advertisements did not exist. This caused a problem with some of the videos not being allowed to be played on the iPad and iPhone because of this. Google solved that. Now when you get ready to enjoy your 3 minute videos you also enjoy the 2 minute advertisement as well. Thanks Google.
Hold on, do get so discouraged there are some other great video applications that you can enjoy on the iPad. Many of these apps will show you YouTube videos. Until Google decides to release their advertisement laden app on the iPad enjoy these fine applications in the mean time.
Vimeo - Vimeo, LLC - Vimeo for iPad is a universal application and is free in the iOS App Store. If you are looking for high quality videos done right then look no further. Vimeo is my personal favorite video website.
Video Time Machine - Original Victories, Inc. - Video Time Machine is a universal iOS application and is only $2.99 in the iOS App Store. Video Time Machine is the best way to view videos from previous years. All of the videos are on YouTube and they are all handpicked videos representing each year dating back to 1860.
Showyou - Remixation, Inc. - Showyou is a universal iOS application and is free to download in the iOS App Store. Showyou is a social video application that allows you to discover videos that your friends have shared across various social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Showyou is a terrific application, especially on the iPad.
Devour - Zombiecorp - Devour is a universal iOS application and is free to download in the iOS App Store. Devour is a curated collection of hand-picked videos from the editors of the terrific website devour.com.
Frequency ~ Tune In, Watch Videos - Frequency - Frequency is an iPad only application and is free to download in the iOS App Store. Frequency is a terrific application that pulls in videos from a ton of different sources. This is by far the single most useful video application you will ever install on your iPad. It does require you to set up a Frequency account but trust me, it is well worth it.

My most used iPad apps
Below is a list of the applications that I use almost everyday and how I use them on my iPad. I use other applications but these are the apps that I have come to know and love.
GoodReader for iPad - Good.iWare Ltd. - I use GoodReader for so many different things on my iPad. GoodReader is like a Swiss Army Knife of applications, I probably use it most for transferring documents from my Mac to my iPad so I can use my iPad as an external storage device. I also use it as an FTP client on my iPad so I can download and mange documents I have stored on a hosting server that I use as a backup.
Downcast - Jamawkinaw Enterprises - This is my favorite podcast application on my iPad. I listen to a lot of podcast and Downcast is my favorite way to do it. I prefer Downcast over Instacast because it has a lot more sharing features and it is easier to navigate and find things about the podcast I am listening to.
Quicklytics - Google Analytics App - ESCOZ inc. - I have several websites and with each website I have setup my site to use Google Analytics so I can gather information about who is using my site, how long they are on the site, what country they are from, etc. Quicklytics shows me the same information that I could get on Google.com/analytics but in a native app on my iPad. One of my favorite features is the 'real-time' which allows me see up to the minute stats about page views and visitors.
Day One (Journal/Diary) - Bloom Built, LLC - If you have ever listened to any of my podcast or if you follow me on Google+ you will already know how much I love Day One. After a recent update to the application it is by far my single most favorite application. Yes, it is a journal application, but I use it for so many other things and not just on my iPad but also on my Mac. If you have a chance check out some of the hacks by Brett Terpstra which can be found here and here. You can also check out the tools section on the Day One website. (Please note that these extras are for the Mac version of Day One.)
Mr. Reader - Oliver - This is the best way to read RSS feeds via Google Reader. I also use Reeder on my iPad but I prefer Mr. Reader because it has so many more options for sharing, especially to Twitter if you have multiple accounts you can switch and tweet to any account you choose to. Also you can use multiple Google accounts.
Instapaper - Marco Arment - I use Instapaper as a bookmarking service more than a read later service. When I do my weekly "News" links on Total iPad almost all the links are saved during the week via Instapaper. I save links each day that I find throughout the day and then move them into my 'iPad' folder at night before I go to bed. Then on the weekend when I post my news article to Total iPad I will open up Instapaper navigate to my iPad folder and copy the links to the articles.
Tweetbot A Twitter Client with Personality for iPad - Tapbots - Ask any iPhone or iPad user what the best Twitter client on iOS is and I would bet probably 8 out of 10 would say Tweetbot. Well, you do not have to go ask 10 people, you can take my word for it that it is the best way to use Twitter on your iPad!
30/30 - Binary Hammer - This is nothing more than a timer app on your iPad but I use it daily for things such as making my coffee, exercising in my living room and of course when I do my Total iPad podcast I set up timers so that I don't spend too long on one particular topic. Of course I always go over the limits I set on the podcast but having the timer there helps remember that I should start wrapping things up.
OmniFocus for iPad - The Omni Group - All you need to know and learn about this app is GTD.
Blogsy - Fomola - Quite simply the best way to manage a blog and upload new content to it from the iPad. If you have a Wordpress blog or a Tumblr blog and you are using an iPad then you will want this app so that you can post new topics to your blog from your iPad. I use Blogsy several times a week to post to my Tumblr blog as well as the occasional post here on Total iPad. It is a great way to blog on the iPad when you are away from home.

10 great iPad RSS feed reader apps
I love reading news on my iPad, Mr. Reader is probably the single most used application on my iPad. Some people claim RSS is dead but I disagree, without RSS feeds popular application like Flipboard or great podcast applications like Downcast or Instacast would not exist. Honestly I think Flipboard saved RSS if anything, yes it was dying and Flipboard brought it back to life, so to speak. Now there are a ton of apps that try to mimic what Flipboard does on the iPad. While Flipboard is a wonderful app that I use every day it is not my favorite RSS reader, that is a toss up between Mr. Reeder or Reeder.
I put together a list of the 10 best RSS news apps on the iPad. 5 paid and 5 free apps. Try all the free apps to find what will serve your needs or choose wisely and pick one of the paid applications. All of the applications use Google Reader, they also include social sharing so you can read links and share with your friends on Twitter, Facebook and a few other places.

Paid Apps
Mr. Reader - Oliver Fürniß
Reeder for iPad - Silvio Rizzi
Feeddler RSS Reader Pro - C.B. Liu
Cappuccino News Reader - Bloop (Currently iPhone only, but works great on iPad in 2X)
NetNewsWire for iPad - NewsGator Technologies, Inc.
Free Apps
Flipboard: Your Social News Magazine - Flipboard Inc.
Zite Personalized Magazine - Zite, Inc.
Pulse News for iPad - Alphonso Labs Inc
feedly - DevHD
Google Currents - Google, Inc.
