How to find an iOS Crash Log on your computer

If you have an application that keeps crashing and you need to send the crash log to a developer, open the crash log in a text editor and copy the text, then paste it into the email or you can save it as a .txt document and attached the file in the email.

How to find your iOS Crash Logs:

Step 1

Sync your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to iTunes. This will automatically copy the log from your device to your computer.

Step 2
Find the crash log(s) on your computer. Here is where they’re located:

  • Mac OS X : ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/DEVICE_NAME

  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/DEVICE_NAME

  • Windows Vista & Windows 7: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/DEVICE_NAME


 

A few tips for OSX users:
You can easily find: ~/Library/ by clicking on an empty spot on your dektop and pressing the following = Command + Shift + G.
You can also open your Crash Logs in Console, with it open click File > Save a Copy As > save the log to your desktop.
