New Google apps for the iPad

Today Google launched 2 new applications:

Google Drive

Google Chrome for iOS

I have downloaded both applications and Chrome is nice but I don't understand the purpose of the Drive application. You can not upload any new document to your Drive account, the only thing you can do is view your documents or share them, in my personal opinion it is not worth downloading. Chrome on the other hand is nice and syncs perfectly with your desktop bookmarks. One thing you can not do though is set Chrome as you default browser.

Daring Fireball's John Gruber mentions this today on his blog -
The pressure for Apple to allow users to specify a third-party app as their default browser is going to increase significantly after this.

I can’t see the angle behind not allowing a third-party app from the App Store to be specified as your preferred default over Mobile Safari. (Same goes for email.)

I agree with Gruber, Apple should really let us choose our default browsers and email client on the iPad and iPhone.
